In class today we went over your Engineering Notebook set up and expectations. If you missed today or weren't prepared in class with your notebook, here is an overview of what we did:

First, make sure you have your notebook!

Then, get out markers, pencils, etc- anything you want to decorate your cover and use to write on the inside of your Engineering Notebook.

Make sure what you write is LEGIBLE!! If I can't read it, I can't give you a score. If you do better typing, type it up and tape it in! At the end of each day you will fill in a detailed description of what you did that day. (what went well, what didn't go well, what did you do, what changes did you make, etc). In any space that isn't filled in you will cross it off, sign it and date it. Please reach out if you need any further help!

Cover:

The most important thing about the cover is that it CLEARLY shows your FULL NAME!

Page 1:

Intro Page:

On the inside cover we glued/taped in the purple Science and Engineering Practices sentence stems. These help up learn to write scientifically about our engineering process-we will use this almost every day! The next page in the notebook- The Intro Page- tells me what it it (Robotics Engineering Notebook), what the purpose is (documenting and showing my design processes). In the very top right corner it also tells me the page number (1). Yours does not need to be identical to mine- but generally the information should be similar! Have fun, color it!

Pages 2 & 3:

Title Page:

This page is super important! So you can see I have titled it "Title Page". You can also see the page number top left (2). You will want to break it into 3 categories : page number, Title page Entry, and Date. (The Title Page Entry should get the most room!).

Page 4: The Design Loop! This page is jam packed with life-long skills! As we get more and more familiar with this process, you will be developing true-to- life valuable skills in the Engineering and Tech world! This Design loop is how we will move through each step in our building design.

Page 5:

Team Introduction:

This is the page where you will introduce your teammates and other fun team info. We did not fill this in, we just titled it and put it into the Title page. We will fill this in later. (The team name, colors, etc that is filled in is just Ms. Hansen's example)

Page 6:

Challenge Description: For this page, this is where we introduced to and described this years challenge in our own words. We did not fill out the page, but we set it up so that we can fill it in next week!

If you missed class today:

We finished the inventory of our robotics bins and then we set up and organized our Engineering Notebooks. You will need to come in and get a copy of the purple page and the Deisgn loop to tape/glue in- so leave the pages open for those. Then, you will need to follow along with the pictures above to get your notebook ready for class on your own time. It needs to be in class, ready to go by Tuesday!
